Is my income tax return filed?

As you know, we handle income tax returns on a first come, first serve basis. This means that your completed questionnaire will be queued. As soon as it is your turn, we will draw up a draft version of your declaration. Have you approved this? Then we will file your tax return. In The Bookie Webapp you can see on your Dashboard where your declaration is in the process. The first three statuses are usually there for a while, but once in the process it usually goes quickly. Are you in a hurry? Then we schedule extra hours and speed up the process.

Status in The Bookie Web App

What does the status of your declaration mean in The Bookie Webapp?

  • 'Vragenlijst Aangeleverd' = Questionnaire Supplied   -> We will do a first check (as soon as it is your turn)
  • 'Vragenlijst niet compleet' = Questionnaire not complete -> You have received an email and need to send additional information
  • 'In de wachtrij' =  In Queue        -> You are in Queue for treatment. Depending on when you submitted your questionnaire, this may take longer or shorter. Read Tim's explanation about peak pressure here.
  • 'In Behandeling door Bookie' = In Process by Bookie   -> We have started your Income tax return
  • 'Meer informatie nodig' = Need more information   -> You have received an email and need to send additional information
  • 'Laatste controle' = Final check      -> We finalize your declaration. Concept IB is coming.
  • 'Goedkeuring nodig' = Approval required      -> to submit your declaration we need your permission
  • 'Goedgekeurd' = Approved        -> you have given your approval and we will submit your declaration
  • 'Ingediend' = Submitted        -> your declaration has been submitted by us.

Normally, after 3 months you will receive the final assessment from the tax authorities that you must pay. Given the enormous delays at the Tax and Customs Administration, this may take longer.

Status on the website of the Tax and Customs Administration

You can check whether your tax return has been received in Mijn Belastingdienst. Please note, the Tax and Customs Administration (strangely enough) only reports here that they have received your return via that portal. So not if a bookkeeper or accountant has submitted your return directly via the Tax and Customs Administration. You wouldn't be the first to be shocked because the suggestion is being made that your declaration has NOT been submitted. Not sure based on the status in The Bookie Webapp? Then give us a call. So did you file your return yourself? In that case, it will be stated under 'Income tax' at 'Tax year 20XX'. If you have completed your tax return yourself, but have not sent it yet, it will say: 'You still have an income tax return 20XX open.
