Vehicle | Purchase business car, motorbike or bike

May I purchase a bicycle/scooter/car on a business basis?

Yes, you may. From that moment on, maintenance costs, repairs, insurance and storage costs on/for the vehicle may be entered as business expenses.

If you purchased a vehicle on a business basis (or purchased it earlier and want to use it on a business basis), different rules apply regarding reimbursements. If you purchased your vehicle on a business basis, you may no longer claim mileage at 23 ct/km.

How do I ensure that my vehicle is considered a business vehicle?

  • Plus | Send the invoice of your vehicle to your Bookie Inbox.
  • Basic | Enter the receipt of purchase in your expenses.

With that, we immediately put your vehicle on the balance sheet. As with all other business expenses, a receipt alone is not sufficient - you must have a purchase invoice. If you bought your vehicle second hand on, for example, Marktplaats, you can attach a screenshot of the advertisement and the contract.

Investment - KIA

Is your bicycle more than € 450 (excluding VAT)? Then it is not just a purchase, but an investment and the bicycle will appear on your company's balance sheet as company assets. In this case, we can therefore also depreciate the bicycle and include the purchase in the small-scale investment deduction (KIA). For cars this applies only in some cases of energy efficient vehicles.

May I also purchase accessories for my vehicle?

Yes, this is allowed and is also the advantage of a business vehicle. This is because you do not record mileage, but instead can include all expenses incurred in relation to the vehicle in your records.

Do you want the expense to be included for the KIA? Then there are rules attached to this. The accessories must be attached to/in the vehicle. Example: you bought an extra strong lock for your bicycle that is attached to the bicycle itself, then you may include these costs. If you bought a loose chain lock, then no.
