What are the VIA and SBA authorizations and what do I do the letters from the Tax Office?

As soon as you become a client with us, we’ll immediately register with the Tax Office as your consultant. Will we be filing your Income Tax Return for you? Then we’ll request 2 authorizations per Income Tax year, the VIA and the SBA authorization.

What does VIA and SBA mean?

  • The Vooraf Ingevulde Aangifte(VIA) is a pre-completed tax return authorization and gives us permission to view certain data, and if necessary, to change it while processing your Income Tax Return.
  • The Service Message Authorization (SBA) authorization ensures that we receive a copy of the messages that the Tax and Customs Administration sends you about the returns that we have prepared for you.

A VIA or SBA authorization is only valid for the year for which we’ve requested it, so we have to request a separate authorization for each return year and you have to send it in every year :)

I received a letter, what now?

The Tax Authorities will send you a letter with an activation code for each authorisation we request. We need this code. You don't have to send us the originals per snail mail, you can just email us copies. Email them directly to your team or to info@thebookie.nl.
What we don’t need is the code to reject or revoke an authorization.

Activation code not received, lost or not sent in on time?

Check with your team whether we still have enough time to request a new activation code for you.
No time left? Read here how you can still authorize us.

Note: We can only fully process your Income Tax Return if we can view the data in the VIA and correct it if necessary.
