VAT on product sales abroad

What do I do with the VAT of goods that I sell abroad?

Calculate sales tax when exporting goods to countries within the EU

In general, you do not charge VAT to entrepreneurs from other EU countries. For goods you apply the 0% rate and for services the VAT is shifted to your customer. Read here how that works.

Do you deliver goods or services to (private) individuals? Then you normally charge 9% or 21% Dutch VAT. Read more through the website of the Tax Authorities for Calculating VAT on exporting goods to EU countries and Calculating VAT on services provided to customers in other EU countries.

Calculate sales tax when exporting goods to countries outside the EU

When you export goods to non-EU countries or store them in a customs warehouse, you charge 0% VAT to your buyer. It does not matter whether you deliver to an entrepreneur or to a private individual. You do have to prove the export. You do this with the help of your administration. Does a foreign entrepreneur collect the goods from you? Even then you can also use the 0% rate.
