Proof of Payment | Receipts: requirements and additional info

What is a correct receipt?

First of all, there must be an amount including VAT, a VAT percentage and preferably an amount excluding VAT on the receipt. In other words, for receipts and invoices without VAT, the VAT cannot be entered in the sales tax return.

In addition, a valid receipt contains the following information:

1. Date

2. Name and address of the supplier (including physical address)

3. VAT number supplier

4. Chamber of Commerce number of supplier

5. Unique serial number (just like your invoices have a unique invoice number)

6. Description and number of goods and services

If it concerns an invoice or an expense of more than € 100, the following must also be stated:

7. Name and address of the recipient

8. VAT number

Pin receipts

Pin receipts/statements are not official receipts. They are proof of the fact that you paid the amount by pin and therefore by bank instead of cash. It is therefore a proof of payment for your own administration, but it is not necessary for the accounting unless you have given a tip that is not on the regular receipt (see catering costs).
